ONL192 course was quiet an interesting experience as I thoroughly enjoyed the group that I was in because we connected and worked well together. We worked so well together that we are planning a Webinar at the end of January to see how we have applied the ONL192 course. I am looking forward to this webinar because it is going to be a true testament of the relevance of the ONL192 course in today's digital world.
I was quiet familiar with all the platforms that the group decided to use in order to tackle the scenarios. I used most of these platforms in my Face-to Face lectures. I am a big fan of Google Suite for education because the platforms that they offer is free and you have full functionality of the platform unlike other educational platforms where functionality is limited because you are on the free version. What I would like to do to improve my application of the course within my everyday life is use these tool more to support online learning. Yes my students use these platforms in class but they do not use these tools after the lecturer. I want to plan activities where students are able to use these tools in class as well as after class to consolidate knowledge. Sometimes this is difficult to do because the students at varsity college already have a learning management system that all content and resources are on and therefore they are reluctant to use other tools because they are only familiar with the learning management system. I must agree that the learning management system is useful and has various online tools that can support students learning. I feel as a lecturer I would be serving my students a dis-justice by only directing students onto the learning management system. As digitally literate students they need to be able to be
dynamic as well as flexible with their engagement online therefore exposing students to different educational online platforms will encourage students to collaborate on different platforms and it will improve there technical skills.
